Negative Thought Patterns
Negative Thought Patterns
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with B.E.S.T.
Our thinking establishes our beliefs, and therefore controls our actions, attitudes and personality. Our thinking significantly affects our physical condition. In order to change our life, we must change the way we think. It is so very important to begin thinking about what we are thinking about, I often tell my clients. “If we continue to think as we have always thought, we will always get what we’ve always got.” (author unknown)
Beliefs are based on our personal experience – what we see, hear, read, learn from others and conclude as a result of our individual stories and collective experiences. Beliefs are learned. So with that in mind, we know that we can change our belief systems with some help. Some beliefs are deeply held from our childhood experiences. Spiritual, emotional, stressful and traumatic events can present in physical ailments and diseases. How we think plays a crucial role in our overall health and wellness. We each have a responsibility to attend to our own health. As we experience life, we gather good and bad information and experiences, and they get stored in our conscious and subconscious mind. You might not always be able to recall all the stored information from your life experience, but it is there. The body and mind are intimately connected. Begin evaluating what you really believe, because what we think, we become.
A new technique now added to my practice, B.E.S.T., addresses the somatic physical complaints and stressors that are stored in the body from our life experience. These stressors get in the way of living healthy happy, enriching lives. The body gets locked in the fight, flight or freeze response from past traumas, financial concerns, or living stressful lives. The result is that the body gets stuck in the “on position”. You may feel hypervigilant in this “survival mode”. You may feel anxious, fearful or overwhelmed. You may feel “stuck”. B.E.S.T. treatment is gentle, non-invasive, painless and involves light physical touch. You will feel some benefit each time you have a treatment. This may be the only treatment you want at Madrona Wellness Centre, or you may want both counselling therapy combined with a B.E.S.T. treatment. Call for your appointments.
